ALTERNATIVE TO INCA TRAIL
Day 1 Mollepata - Soraypampa:
We will leave Cusco at about 05.00 for the bus ride to the Mollepata were we will arrive approximately at 8.30 a.m. Here we have an excellent American breakfast. After the breakfast we drive 40 minutes to Cruzpata. Here our horses and horsemen are waiting for carrying the luggage to make an easier our hiking. During the morning we will walk for 4 hours watching the diversity of flora and fauna typical for his ecological side, after we will arrive to Silkacancha Place where we will enjoy our lunch. In the afternoon we will keep on walking for three hours more arriving at our first campsite Soraypampa, where we will have our dinner and were we spend the night.
Day 2 Soraypampa - Collpapampa:
We will wake up very early for having a good breakfast for continuing to Salkantaypampa, 3400 m.s.n.m.) to the Salkantay snow covered mountain, with an altitude of 4650 m.s.n.m., the highest part in our trip to Machu Picchu. We will see here the spectacular view of the Andes, the flora and the fauna typical from this region, with a beautiful Laguna Soroycocha, wherev we can share a very special Andean ritual, a payment to the earth. After we will be going down to Ichupata where we will find some streams and many kind of birds, and where we will have lunch. In the afternoon we will finally finish our hard walking downhill to Collpapampa, where we will have our dinner and where we will spend the night. This will be the point where the cloud forest region begins, with the semitropical weather, giving us the possibility for meeting native people.
Day 3 Collpapampa – Sta. Teresa:
After an early breakfast at 7.00 a.m. we will start our day walking to Lluscamayu, during this trip we pass by one of the Inka bridges. Continuing our walk for more than two hours we will arrive to La Playa village, where we will have our lunch. On this trip we will see many kinds of tropical plants, like oranges, bananas, avocado, papaya, lemons, and others. From La Playa village we continue our walk to Santa Teresa District, where we arrive late in the afternoon. Arriving to Santa Teresa we will have dinner and we will spend the night in our tents. Here we have the possibility to visit the hot baths of Santa Theresa.
Day 4 Sta. Teresa - Aguas Calientes:
After breakfast we will start our trek by crossing the Salkantay river and after a short time we will be passing two Inka bridges, one of them crosses the Urubamba river. After a three hour walk we will arrive to the hydroelectric train station for having our lunch. At 3.25 PM we will be taking the train to Aguas Calientes, which will take 45 minutes. In the evening we will be having a menu in a cosy restaurant in Aguas Calientes. We spend the night in a nice hostal in Aguas Calientes. Possible to visit the hot springs, which are open until the evening.
Day 5 Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu – Cusco:
We will wake up at 5.00 a.m. for having breakfast in our Hostal and after we are going to the Lost City of Machu Picchu directly. Our guide will give a two hour explanation about everything concerning to Machu Picchu. After this we will have free time for taking pictures. The lunch and dinner on this day is not included, because it is in your free-time. You can take your lunch in the lost City of Machu Picchu, or you went already down to Aguas Calientes where you can find very nice restaurants. In the afternoon we will go back to Aguas Calientes to the train station to take the backpacker train to Cusco (at 16.00 p.m.).
Optional to be considered the possibility of one extra night in Aguas Calientes.
Optional instead of backpacker train, vistadome.

What to bring
- One sleeping bag per person: You can rent a sleeping from Bramatours/Birdingperu our sleeping bags are -5ºC-comfort. Costs US$ 16,00 for 4 days.
- Backpack with a change of clothes for the whole period of the trek.
- Rain jacket or poncho (plastic ponchos can be purchased in Cusco).
- Strong footwear, ideally trekking or sport shoes.
- Warm clothes, including jacket, fleece and sweaters.
- Flashlight and batteries.
- Camera, films and batteries (batteries consume more quickly under cold conditions).
- Hat or cap to protect you from the sun, rain or cold.
- Sun block and insect repellent.
- Towels
- Toilet paper.
- Snacks: biscuits, energy bars, chocolate, etc.
- Water bottle, ideally non disposable canteen and sterilizing tablets ie.Micropur.
- Swimsuit (if you intend to go to the hot springs)
- Cash in soles and/or US$
